Q&A WITH FOUNDER: DANIELLE FICHERA
My name is Danielle Fichera.
I am from New York, and currently based in New York.
I studied film with a concentration on politics at The New School, and launched my fashion company in 2017.
My favorite place to travel is Ramatuelle, France.
I am the happiest when I am surrounded by the people I love, second to that when I am creating – whether that be a dress or a dinner!
Growing up, I wanted to be an architect or city planner, but, as I grew older, I thought I would enjoy being a professor.
I cannot live without my creativity and curiosity. But, on a more tangible note … my iPhone.
One thing people don’t know about me is that I am very shy. In the beginning of starting my company, it was very challenging to be the face of my brand. I knew that if I were to succeed, I needed to connect with my customers. I have been able to get past my shyness, but it is something I work on every single day.
My real-life hero is my father. Everything my father dreamed of becoming, he became. Growing up, I was blessed to see a man start off with nothing and accomplish so much in one lifetime. He lived the American Dream and engrained in us all that all is possible in this world. He found love, luck, success, and happiness in his lifetime.
What I love about my work is it allows me to constantly explore my creativity and curiosities.
I got started with my current career by accident. I had found a tunic while traveling. When I came back to New York, I had a local seamstress make it for me in various colors and materials. From that one tunic, I created nine styles. I was introduced to a buyer at a hotel group, and he put 300 of my tunics in the group’s hotels. And, then my business was born.
My favorite artist is Hilma Af Klint, Picasso, Cy Twombly, and Matisse.
My favorite books are The Prophet by Kahlil Gilbran, The Shortness of Life by Seneca, and Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke.
My favorite film is “I Am Love,” directed by Luca Guadagnino.
My favorite musicians are Bob Dylan, Billy Holiday, Carla Bruni, and The Rolling Stones.
My astrology sign is Capricorn.
My style inspirations are Franca Sozzani, Jane Birkin, and Lee Radziwill.
To me, luxury is something that is created with great thoughtfulness using the highest quality of materials while maintaining ethical means of production.
